I'm planning to black out all the chome/metal on my build. I've searched the threads and compiled a list of parts I believe will need to be powder coated or painted. Can you guys review the list and let me know if I left anything off accidentally OR have any wrong information on here (for example I believe some parts such as the hood & trunk handles have plastic parts inside so can't be powder coated due to the heat). Some of the parts on my list are NOT included in the FFR kit, they are add-ons from some of the vendors. If any of this is incorrect, let me know and I'll update the this first post. Here is my list:

Hood handles (may not be able to powder coat due to plastic parts inside --> consider paint or plastidip...some have PC with success)
Hood latches - powdercoat
Trunk handle/light (may not be able to powder coat due to plastic parts inside --> consider paint or plastidip....some have PC with success)
License plate holder (optional) - powdercoat
LeMans Gas cap - disassemble & powdercoat
Door latches
Windshield frame - disassemble & powdercoat
Windshield post trim plates - powdercoat
Radiator - Can buy black VHT spray paint from Eastwood specifically made for radiators (EXAMPLE (https://www.amazon.com/Eastwood-10340Z-Black-Radiator-Aerosol/dp/B003CRM9CU/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=17HBTCRSFCFU5&keywords=radiator+paint&qid=1665076382&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1LjAxIiwicXNhIjoiNC4wNCIsInFzcCI6IjM uNTAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=radiator+paint%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1))
Radiator shroud (optional from Breeze) - powdercoat - this will be on the inside of the engine bay, so not necessary unless you are trying to black out the engine bay?
Radiator surround (optional from Replicaparts) - powdercoat
Side mirror - might need to paint or plastidip (TBD) - Breeze makes some nice black anodized mirrors
Rearview mirror - powdercoat
Roll bars - powdercoat
Roll bar trim rings - powdercoat
e-brake handle & button - powdercoat
Shifter shaft - powdercoat
Shifter trim ring - powdercoat
FFR Gauge bezels --> can buy black anodized replacements from Speedhut for about $100 total (for all 7)
Seatbelt trim plates (optional from Replicapartsl) - powdercoat
Steering column trim plate (optional from Replicaparts) - powdercoat
Quick jacks (front & rear) - powdercoat
Quick jack spacer tubes - powdercoat
Acorn nuts for quick jacks - powdercoat
Headlight trim rings - powdercoat
Front/rear turn signal bezels - powdercoat (if they are metal), otherwise paint or plastidip
Wheels (Halibrand) - powdercoat
Spinners - powdercoat
Steering wheel - might need to paint, plastidip, or Cerakote (TBD) due to wood and/or leather....or buy aftermarket wheel
side louvers - powdercoat
Side pipes (ceramic coat or CeraKote)
Headers (ceramic coat or CeraKote)
Heat shields for side pipes (optional) (ceramic coat or CeraKote)
Wind Wing mounting brackets & screws - powdercoat
Sun visor mounting brackets & screws - powdercoat
Wiper blades & hardware - powdercoat
Elephant ears - powdercoat
Defrost vents (optional) - powdercoat
Button-head screws for hood scoop - source black finished screws instead of stainless

Are you putting on wind wings or sun visors, defroster vents? What about trunk light, license plate light. Definitely fit the replica parts radiator shroud before powder coating. Also, elephant ears because they will show.

Yep - Good call. I'll add those to the list.

Mike - to confirm you were able to powder coat them without disassembly?

Dittos.

Edited to add I took mine down to the basic components, but did not disassemble the core/cylinder.

Trunk handle, hood latch, license plate light all powder coated. Its been a while but I do not remember disassembling them. Maybe Mike can chime in.

I did both hood and trunk latch’s also. It was a little difficult getting the key in afterwards, but I think I did take it apart. There is a black round spring retainer that with a small flat head screw driver I was able to take them apart.

I also did the door latch’s and while I had them apart, I did the mod where you put a bolt in to keep the mechanism from falling apart.

I also powder coated my side view mirror. There is a plastic retainer that if you push the glass/mirror in, (just held against retainer by spring pressure) you can remove the plastic retainer and the mirror will come out.

The turn signal rings are not plastic. I had them coated also.

If you do the door latch covers, be careful. They are cheap pot metal. We ruined one of those. Luckily a buddy had an extra set.

For any parts I can't powder coat because of glass or plastic, I'm going with air-cured Cerakote. You can either do this yourself or find a shop that does it.

For anyone that has blacked out the FFR Vintage gauges - what did you do on these? Did you disassemble and wet paint? Or did you order new bezels from Speedhut that are already black?

I never thought about painting not long lasting
I just ordered new from Speedhut. Revolution style I think.
