View Full Version : How long to get MIK parts?

Being that this is my first FFR kit, I don't have any experience to go off of. I had what I think was a lot of missing parts when my kit was delivered. I inventoried every nut and bolt and sent back the missing parts to FFR almost 2 months ago. No word since. I've talked to Dave C. a couple of times who is very responsive but he doesn't actually do the shipping. The shipping crew haven't answered my email asking for an ETA. And these days with supply chain disruptions, I fully expect this may take a while. How long does it normally take to start seeing some of the missing parts show up?

There's nothing normal about POL (Parts Order List, FF's name for backordered parts) items compared to past history. So there's not a good answer to your question. I've done several kits dating back a number of years. Past POL's were maybe one half page or less, and typically filled in a couple months. With perhaps an outlier or two due to specific situations. I had a truck kit delivered at the end of December last year. Just over 10 months ago. The last POL items were over six months. That was for 43 items plus an additional 8 MIK (Missing In Kit) items. Based on posts here and on Facebook, most are currently experiencing similar levels.
While progress has been made for certain items, which Dave talks about in his Facebook videos, the overall situation is still not great. My guess is you will probably be in the six month range as well. They will ship parts as they become available, although they try to group items together. It's not unreasonable to request, and receive, the status of your POL and MIK items. But like other builders right now, expect to work around missing parts and jump around in the sequence. How much of that you have to do depends on your speed as a builder.

honestly just do other stuff and check in once every few weeks. there is nothing anyone can do right now. the whole world is a cluster**** with logistics and distribution.

Hi,
It's now a year on since the actual order was placed and I am still awaiting parts. - Main one right now is the adapter for the drive shaft, which I would guess is made in house.
The frustrating thing is getting someone to acknowledge your emails and then to get some idea of what's coming when you get notification a parcel is on it's way. Nothing worse than being ignored and then getting parts you aren't desperate for to only have to start the whole emailing process again.
Anyway, they will come in the end, just be prepared to wait :)
thanks
Phil
I ordered my complete Canadian Kit in December 2020 and the completion parts from Valins in January 2021. So, generally 10+ months ago. I'm still waiting on about a dozen items, but the major ones being the front lower control arms (literally like page 2 of the build manual), wheels, and the Wilwood pedal box.
Shipping ports are at reduced labor due to covid restrictions, which also means that container ships are docked offshore (like at Port of Los Angeles, where my Halibrand wheels will come through). And if container ships are docked, then there are less containers to pack new parts at factories. There is another thread that talks about this. Part of the global logistics problem is that in addition to reduced labor, there is also a container shortage.

Thanks everyone. I was curious as to what others are seeing. Fortunately I don't have any kind of deadline I'm working against and I have plenty of room in the garage. I did get word back yesterday that some parts are coming soon. Don't know which ones yet. I'll update this thread when I find out. BTW - not coming from FFR is my Coyote Gen3 ECU. That has been back ordered for 7 months so far. I haven't worried about it too much since I have a long ways to go on the rest of the car. I figure that one out when I get closer to needing it if it still hasn't arrived by that time.

ProJoe nailed it. The whole global supply chain is a hot mess right now. Many are throwing shots at FFR for these issues. This is not specific to FFR. I am fortunate to be close to FFR and can tell you with 100% certainty everyone at FFR is doing their best to fill orders and keep people moving on their projects. As you indicate in this post, 7+ months for a part from Ford! (likely through a vendor)
I would only say that based on the tone of your posts you have been very patient, I encourage you to continue with that patience. It will make a huge difference in your experience. There are many examples of shortages across all industries. We will get through this!
Stay calm and carry on!
Best of luck with your build.
