Hi all, I’m wrapping up some details so apologize in advance for machine gunning a bunch of little issues like this. My Coyote alternator wire was hanging on the steering shaft you can see where it was already chafing powder coat from a few turns). I zip tied it out of the way and added it to annual maintenance checklist. But I’m wondering if anyone can suggest a more permanent solution than zip ties so I don’t have to worry about it down the road. Thanks in advance!

Adell clamps and stand offs work well to eliminate potential chafing areas and to just clean areas up.

Factory five provides these in two size with every kit. 1/4" for brake lines and 5/8" for everything else. They are also available in a bunch of other size online. I like Zoro.com for them. Any unused threaded boss that will accept a bolt would be a good hold down for the cushion clip.

I try to use padded clamps whenever possible as well. But sometimes tie wraps are the best option. For those, I've found two higher quality ones that are typically the only ones I leave behind. These from Thomas and Betts are UV and heat resistant and have metal (vs. plastic) locks. Highly recommended. https://www.amazon.com/Thomas-Betts-TY525MX-CABLE-50LB/dp/B001DEHZ14. I've also tried the padded tie wraps Mike Patey sells (he of Scrappy and Draco fame) and they're quite nice. But larger and heavy duty. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CZLH1K5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Worked great to tie off the A/C hoses on my truck build.

For your purpose, you don't need anything exotic. Plain zip ties are 100% acceptable

Thanks all. Padded clamps won’t work in that location unfortunately. But I picked up some of the Thomas & Betts zip ties. Thanks for the suggestion/link EdwardB!

If you have enough wire length available, you can loop the alternator wire around the outside of the steering shaft rather than between the shaft and the cylinder head. This gives a lot more clearance. Like this:

Thanks Jeff. Any concerns about metal rubbing against electrical wiring?

Other wire ties that look a little more OEM are these;

I really like these since you just drill a 1/4" inch hole and push them in.

I just came across these. Look at the lower left of the page for #21204

Craig,
You likely recognize 21204 as a replica Lexus part. I have dieted more than a few.
OTOH we could not use adhesive tape on USAF interceptors. We used non-adhesive plastic wrap and nylon flat string to tie everything with a cable lacing knot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t48x7Qrd50c
Adel clamps everywhere.
