What are you all doing about the front bed-wall corners? Brackets?...Welds?...Something else?
Thanks

How about a wooden "doubler"? It could be glued and screwed to all 3 pieces to hide their imperfect fit with each other and finished to match the flooring material.

I tack welded the bed together, as one piece, set in place (on gasket foam applied to frame), secured it to the sides with a split piece of pipe - pictures to come when I'm a bit farther along153942

I made a small angle of stainless steel that I bolted to the front panel and side panel with #10 button head bolts.

Had not thought to use wood. Not sure what a doubler would look like, but I could see a wooden corner piece to secure the two sides to.
Thanks!

That is a good consideration; was one of my original plans. I'm sure it can look good with a good weld job and paint. I'll check with my body/paint guy.
Thanks!

I like that...simple, mostly hidden, should blend in when painted.
Thank you!

My idea, not executed yet so take it for what it's worth, is I'm planning to make a plug from aluminum that fits into the end of the rolled top on the sides. Then will tap one or two retaining screws for the front on each corner. I don't weld so that's out for me. But I do have tools for fabricating parts so that's typically the direction I go. The right angle brackets are a good simple solution. Might go that way if my idea doesn't work. But would like to keep it hidden if I can.

Ahh, haven't looked at it from that angle...will have to study that.
Thanks!

Hi all:

Here’s my McGuyver-ish fix for that issue…and it doesn’t look terrible.
Just a large and very short sheet metal screw fired thru the whole lot.

I know…I know….;you’re all likely thinking I’m a hack.
You would be wrong….I’m a practical hack!!
Ha! 😂

And yes I also thought about a zippy cool aluminum triangle piece that would hide nicely in the corner.

If I were to be keeping the truck would likely craft one up. 👍🏼👍🏼

I cut the front wall down at the angle . So the front wall does not extend above the sides where the bend starts. Kinda like the tailgate. Bend the front wall with the 90 at the top. This totally eliminates the visual of the angles being off.

I installed a button head bolt though the the front piece and through the side piece. Sorry, I don't have a photo. I can get one if you are interested.

I made brackets from 3/4" SS angle. spot welded to the side panels so no bolts show through. Then screwed to rear panel. Wanted it able to all come apart easily. You could also use metal epoxy. The stuff now days is almost strong as weld.

I may be a little late to your bed party, but as someone else stated, I just cut off the top of the front bed steel to where the angle starts. Much cleaner, and very little work. If my picture didn't come through with this reply, I'll try it again after I read the site's directions.
