View Full Version : FFR discontinued narrow width control arms for pin drive FIA wheels

I placed my order for 289 FIA kit this week, FFR calls to tell me they are no longer offering the narrow width lower control arm (13") and will no longer offer the FIA pin drive wheels. I can get wheels from Trigo, but not the required P/N 12508 - 1987-1998 PIN DRIVE WIDTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS. Anybody have a set of the narrow LCA or a source to have narrow LCA manufactured?

I wonder if you could just mount them in the inner holes on the frame?

Due to the 289 FIA's narrower track width the LCAs already mount in the inner set of holes, but even if that wasn't the case the pin drive lower arms are about 2" shorter so the difference between inner and outer holes wouldn't be enough to make up that difference.

Sounds like FFR is done with pin-drive wheels.

Very sad and unfortunate.

Long shot, but since they're not planning to make them any longer ask them if they're willing to share the drawings for them so you can have them manufactured locally.

Or reverse engineer an existing set. With enough time and money any material thing can be recreated.

It appears that they just cut off an effective 2" of lateral length from the "standard length" A-arm on the bushing side and gusset them on the other side of the tubing.....

Standard width #12066:

153934

Pin-drive width #12508:

153933

I'm sure making the modification to a standard width set would be a "perform at your own risk" sort of thing...

Sounds like a nice opportunity to convert a standard set to rod ends.

Jacob nailed it. You get a 2fer. Rod ends and the correct width. Win-win.

Rod ends?

Looks like a simple mod to shorten a standard pair of LCA's...
