Hey Everyone,

Looking into the steps I’ll need to go through to bring in an roadster from BC into Alberta. It’s already registered in BC, so I’d assume it has some sort of VIN that should be able to be registered here once I go through the out of province inspection - from other posts it seems like Fountain Tire in St. Albert may be the best place to go?

- Out of province inspection
- Insurance - Intact? TD wont insure home built vehicles.

Anything else I need to look out for? I’ll have to drive it back from BC, but that may need to wait until the spring with the lack of winter tires.

I have not heard of any major obstacles in licensing a BC car in Alberta. Like most provinces, I'm sure they may require an inspection, but if it was licensed in BC already, it should pass with flying colors. Does the current registration show it as home-built? Mine is classed as a RPLKIT (replica kit I gather), nothing about home built.

Hopefully one of the Alberta forum members can assist in suggestions for inspection and insurance companies. Alberta is second to Ontario, in the number of FFR's in a Canadian Province..so there should be someone who can help.

Just my 2 cents but I would not advise driving a home-built car/hot rod any distance until I had a chance to thoroughly inspect it. I did this once and found serious issues when I got to my home shop and inspected the car. The drive home could have resulted in a serious accident. I promised myself that any future acquisitions would get a trailer ride home. Stay safe. Scott

Mike lots of us around Edmonton. I know moving one to BC from Alberta is not easy but the inspection in Alberta should just be the "out of province" inspection
