View Full Version : I'm looking for upper dash trim ideas:

I ordered the carbon fiber dash, and it's not even close to being cut properly.
The left and the right match up, with a large dip in the middle. I can trim the sides to match that, but that brings the dash up more than I'd like.

I'm thinking a piece of trim would work nicely to cover this area across the top. I'm curious if anyone can think of, or has seen something offhand that would look good.

No problem, the body will cover that

To expand a little, the curve in that 3/4x3/4 never matches the body. I think it's Jeff who has a guideline of dash vs tube and I think it is out at the end of the tube. Hopefully he will chime in. Just in case though, over the years I have seen some guys that mounted a rear view mirror to the body there, use longer bolts that go through the body and attach to a bracket on the tube. That way they can pull the body down a bit if needed.

Looks normal to me

Thanks for the heads up. When I did a test fit of the body it looked like it was going to show. The rest view mirror idea is great. Thank you!

The dash at the center of the bow should sit about 3/8" below the top of the tube. At the ends of the bow, it's about 3/8" above the tube. The body will cover about 3/4" of the top of the dash.

Did not screw the top in. Have Mike Eversons under tray. The tray is riveted to the front lower square tube. The lower edge of the dash is screwed to the undertray. The Console is a friction fit that forces the top of the dash to sit between the body lip & the upper square tube. The console is screwed into the square tubing that frames the transmission tunnel. Cut the console sides over height then trimmed for a snig fit.

Very tight no squeaks in 7 years of almost daily useage. Reason nice fit plus it takes about 5 minutes to access the back of the dash.
