Steering rack only 2.5 turns lock to lock

Hi, I have a Gen 2 Coupe complete kit with the provided manual rack. It only turns 2.5 turns from lock to lock. The rack has a wide black limiter and a smaller white limiter on both sides. It turns the wheels sufficiently to the left 1.5 turns from “center” (any more and it would hit the panel). Turning to the right from center to lock, 1 turn, and it’s not turning the wheels nearly enough before bottoming out on the black and white limiters. To me it seems this is the wrong rack, or that it shouldn’t have these limiters installed, or at least not both. I didn’t find anything about it in the manual or on the forums. Does anyone have any information that might help?

that sounds about right, at least for my MK4. do you have your steering wheel installed yet? is it on straight? you may need to adjust the placement of the splined portion of the lower shaft on the manual rack. clock it all the way left, then count the revolutions to clock it all the way right (2.5 turns). Then clock it back to the left for half the revolutions (1.25 turns) and this is your center point. Now detach your lower shaft from the rack and adjust the teeth so that your steering wheel is centered.
