As I creep closer and closer to the body/paint phase of the project I'm really struggling to nail down a paint color. The color that I'm infatuated with at the moment (it could change tomorrow) is a vintage non-metallic blue from early 50's Porsche 356's called Azure Blue. Here are a couple of photos:

I really like that it has that old-school vibe to it. The overall layout I have in mind would be this color with meatballs and numbers on the doors, hood and trunk, similar to the layout on this car:

I've searched all over the internet and have seen every shade of blue imaginable on cobras, but not this color. Has anyone here seen a cobra with this color - in particular asking the Jeffs, as you guys are probably responsible for the paint jobs on the majority of cobras out there. :D

That is an extremely cool color! LOVE IT!. I'm a fan of older colors, despite my avatar. My own MKIII is Guardsman Blue. I'm also a huge fan of non-metallic British Racing Green, but this is just as nice.

I like the more vintage looking non-metallics for a change of pace, and that's a good one! That's not one I've done---I know my buddy Miller is doing one in a Porsche blue right now but I don't know if it's this. Maybe he'll chime in (if he does I give no better than 50/50 odds that his comments will be useful :p)

I just happened across this car listing. I like your color choice too. I had a BMW 2002 re-painted "the same" color many years ago...

I hope that's not the same color. Seems a bit light to me.

Nice choice. Stainless steel will set it off really well.

I saw it on an ERA and it was beautiful IMHO. I’m a big fan of non-metallics as well. I may have a pic somewhere of the ERA as I thought it could be a future build colour choice.

Wow,that is a unique car in the photo. Don’t think I have ever seen a Cobra with Centerline Wheels. The FIA body and old style blue really work well together.

Similar colour but think this is a CSX.

The blue cobra is CSX2433 I believe, restored by Bruce Canepa. It’s painted a custom color coincidentally called “Canepa Blue” I reached out to them about it because that’s what color I want. I was told that Ford Sheridan Blue is very close.

Canepa blue is beautiful. Here's another cobra they did in the same color:

Interesting reference. That Cobra was owned by a buddy in the late sixties, in Cedarburg WI. It had been raced previously and Dave turned it back into a street car. Financial issues forced a sale to Dan Schott in Oshkosh who built it back into a race car. It was a similar blue back then. In 1971 I bought a Shelby GT350R and took it to my first SCCA driver's school in Brainerd MN. Dan was there in his Cobra and Rollie Stephenson brought CSX2350 which was a silver street conversion back then. My developed race engine dominated when we finally got to our mini-race. Dan's car raced for a couple of years, then sold. I never saw Rollie's car at a SCCA race. The only other Cobra I raced against was a couple of years later at Blackhawk Farms when Gordie Meffert's CSX 2156 (former Lemans racer) showed up in white with Castrol stripes and a new owner. He was over his head and not competitive.
My buddy Dave went on to build and race a Sunbeam Tiger. In about 1974 Dave's engine was blown and my Shelby was crashed. He loaned me the Tiger to develop with my engine. It worked with a wins at Elkhart and lap record at Blackhawk Farms.

I feel like I have a certain idea in mind, but can't quite put my finger on it yet. I'm getting closer and closer though. Here's another color idea. This is an Eagle E-type lightweight GT. (https://www.eaglegb.com/186/jaguar-e-type-special-editions/eagle-lightweight-gt) I love that the roundels are just a slightly lighter shade of the same body color.

John, I thought I had deleted this photo, Searched everywhere and found it. This is from about two years ago at a local Cars & Coffee. The Jag was a beautiful restoration, with parchment gray leather interior.
I asked if this is a Jaguar color, and no, he said it was a period Triumph color (early sixties) Very elegant.
Personally I am considering a dove gray for my Dino replica, I like understatement.

Thanks Jim! That is a beautiful color. Definitely along the lines of what I'm thinking. There's another Porsche 356 color from the early 50's called Aquamarine Blue that's pretty similar. That family of nonmetallic blue/aqua colors is where I'm leaning.
