Hello all,

I am new to the forum and haven’t yet purchased my FFR. I built my last rat rod which was a 47 Chevy built from the ground up. I have been in aviation for quite some time and the rat was an aviation themed vehicle (I will post pictures shortly).153480153481153482 The pictures are still prior to completion…

I am looking forward to getting back into the build mode. I have a ton of question and I look forward to getting to know everyone a bit more.

Any good ideas on a good drive train setup?

Welcome to the forum! There are a lot of helpful folks here that will answer all your questions and spend all your money.

Your open ended question about drive train setup is a huge question. There are so many different options that it is hard to choose.

If you give us an idea on what your goals and wants would be, then the discussion would be more useful to you. For example, are you looking at building the hot rod, roadster, coup, etc. Each has its own variations and may require a different setup. Are you planning on making it more streetable or are you going to race it? Do you want more power or do you want something to take on a Sunday drive? We would love to hear your ideas and help guide you to meet your goals.

If you are wondering about srive train options, a good place to start is looking at the BluePrint Engines that are designed specifically for Factory Five. You don't have to choose one of these but it is at least a starting point. I have the fuel injected 347 and so far I love it and couldn't be happier.

By the way, I love the rat rod with the aviation motif!

Thank you all.

Hineas, thank you for the reply and digging a bit for further information. You bring up some great points. The questions you bring up make me think a little more methodical moving forward in these forums. This is the first forum that I have ever been involved in.

To answer some of your question:
I would like this to be a streetable and I am really between the 33 hot rod and the MK3 roadster, but leaning more toward the 33 since it is more my style. I would like it to be a Sunday driver w/ a lot of power (leaning towards the 427 or the fi 347, a looker, show-worthy, and have several details that I have not seen on others (for example: I know there are several areas for pull rivets on the build so, I would like to install solids that I would buck. I am looking somewhere in the middle of a high end project and mid-grade. Just something clean, reliable, fun, and something to wrench on and say I built it.

Your build looks pretty amazing! It seems like you are on point with you attention to detail and helping many others out with lessons learned. I for one truly appreciate the feedback.

As you can see, I think at this point I have more questions than answers and several ideas, without the absolute direction I want to go. So, watching other builds come to fruition really helps.

Thank you!
Jason
