View Full Version : Correct MK 4 Lower Radiator Hose

The basic build manual includes the following paragraph:

"96-04 - If you prefer to use rubber radiator hoses, use NAPA # 7575 for the top hose. Use the
stock lower hose to the thermostat housing then use Gates #21383 to attach to the radiator going
under the steering rack."

Checking the online Gates catalog, the molded radiator hose list ends with part # 21289. There is no part # 21383 in the current catalog. Is the correct part # 21283?

Hi Rick,

While I do not know if that part number that you found either replaces/supersedes the one that we recommend, I know that NAPA or CarQuest can find that out. They still have books that allows them to cross reference information (unlike Autozone or Advanced Auto) on Manufacturer part numbers, and allows them to see if another manufacturer makes the same part. My recommendation is that you take both part numbers down to one of those stores to figure out which number is correct and available.

The Gates Hose looks to be recently discontinued, the same hose from Goodyear is still available, part # 61657
