gen 3 aluminator crate engine with ~ 40 miles on it now. MIL light had been on from the oil pressure switch (The one FFR has you T the oil pressure sender with) having been disconnected so I could put the oil temp sender in its place. Another forum says they were initially told this switch was not required by ford, then ford told them it was, so it has now been t'ed back in. This is just to explain that I don't know when the camshaft position timing codes came about as I assumed it was just the oil pressure switch circuit open code.
Car starts and idles without issues. I am still braking it and the clutch in so only partial throttle has been used. Some jerkiness when going on and off throttle but otherwise haven't had any complaints, but another variable is I have a vmp supercharger on it which has been adjusted for by vmp, but being that its not in a mustang, the tune may not be perfect. The code will typically come on either immediately on startup, or after driving a few feet.
Initially ran 5w50 as per fords instructions, then swapped to 5w20 with a new filter just to see if it was having issues with oil flow with the oil weight ford suggests for some unexplainable reason. With the 5w20, after warmup, oil pressure is ~25 at idle which is typical as per my research. I am located in Texas as well and it has been mid 90's to low 100's so I can't imagine its too cold.
The only other person I found with this issue on a new engine was a gen 2 and their conclusion was it was a "wiring issue", without any other clarification. The P0012 and P0022 consistently keep coming back after clearing, P0015 and P0025 I have only seen once, but they are all stored under permanent codes.
I am at a loss for such a problem on a new engine with fresh oil, other than start replacing a bunch of sensors.
