Hi All -

New here but have been researching, reading and otherwise lurking for a couple years. I am looking for some guidance, thoughts or insight on ordering an 818 roadster. The base price is pretty reasonable but the add on bits (which all look pretty cool) drive the price up in a hurry so my question is, is there value in the splitters, etc. offered by FF or are aftermarket choices (if any) a better choice? I like the look of a lot of them, since you know, why not?

Any other ordering tips, aftermarket insight and other advice will be appreciated and well received. I have read several build threads and it seems there is a lot more deviation from the kit than say with the Cobra build. Seems like the sky, engines and combinations are the limit!

I haven't been around for a while, but I think Wayne at very cool parts and Craig at zero decibel motorsports probably have the best collections of non-ffr parts for sale.

Be sure to check them out for fancy bits. As for body stuff and extras, you COULD order them later if spreading out the cost helps take the sting out, but of course...shipping costs later, too.

The PO purchased all of the carbon fiber bits when he bought the kit that I got from him, and I gotta say I think the quality sucks. The parts are thin and fragile, and the CF is so loose that light actually shines through the parts. I gave away a good bit of the CF stuff and will make my own. I would only order a base kit and handle upgrades one at a time from a 3rd party vendor or DIY.

I can only speak to the parts I have since I really haven't seen any other 818s in person but I purchased my kit in 2018 and got the CF spoiler and front grille and was very happy with the quality. They seem to be durable and fit well enough (at least comparable to the rest of the body pieces). I was hesitant to get the front splitter, side sills and diffuser because I thought the parts were too expensive and pretty to be that close to the ground. :) That said, I waited to order my kit to when FFR had a sale that gave credit towards optional parts so I essentially got both pieces for "free".

I will add to my comments that I have a very early kit, it is possible the quality has improved since then.
