Have been considering different options for brakes lately. I have sn95 spindles and a standard 8.8 rear end. Just wanted to know what yall think is the best option if my budget is $1800 for everything?
Thanks
That's a really tight budget. If you want a specific recommendation you're going to have to provide much more info than you have above. Start with the intended use and your goal for wanting a brake upgrade.
I suggest you go to the Wilwood website and look at the kits for your FFR model as a starting point. And remember, wheel size will dictate brake rotor size and use will influence the brake design. This is a system (brake system) so all the parts you select have to work in concert for best performance. And unless you have the knowledge and skill to design your own, you should choose a "kit" that has all the engineering done for you. Guys like Gordon (Levy Racing is a forum vendor) can help you select the best system for your needs.

I think you can find some Mustang Cobra SVT parts and use North Race Car's brackets for that price. I did something very similar and sourced powder coated calipers and drilled/slotted rotors for less than that. You'll have to shop around for the best price and see who has product in stock.

Thanks for the feedback, sorry I should have given more information. I am running the 17inch halibrands. 5 lug axles of course. The car is only going to have 300-350hp and is used mostly for street driving. I just want to know what the best setup is for the budget. I guess wildwoods would cost more than $1800 so Cobras are the next best. After doing some research, it seems that if you want the calipers for the 13" front and 11.65" rear Cobra rotors you have to either get used or rebuilt ones on eBay? Because everything brand new online isn't the real ones. Like LMR's SVE calipers. But does it really matter? Also, I know I would need brackets for the rear. Those North Race Car ones look pretty good. But would I need anything else for the rear? And what about the front? I know I would need the spindle hubs/bearings.
mabbott74, North Race Car also seems to have rear and front big brake "cobra" kits, are things like that good or should I try to find real SVT parts if that is even possible and within my budget?
Thanks so much for the help. This forum is awesome.
If you haven't done this before, you should do some research on how to balance the system, front to rear. These cars have a different weight bias than a standard OEM street car and it seems you are looking at some significant variation in rotor diameters front and rear. I can't stress enough that this is a "system" and all components need to work together. If you don't know how to build a brake system, you can easily get into a situation that the car will be a handful to control when applying the brakes.
Yes, this forum is a great resource but for a safety critical system, I suggest you call a subject matter expert like Gordon and discuss what you plan to do before you pull the trigger.
Good luck.

There should still be a kit from Fully Torqued Racing which, with a .125" washer, adapts the 2015+ Mustang GT 4 piston front calipers to SN95 spindles, with 14" rotors from a 2012 GT500. Those calipers are the size of an NFL regulation football and dirt cheap for what they are. Some fabrication would likely adapt them to the rear axle as well but you'd also have to fab an e-brake adapter for a separate e-brake caliper. The bigger problem is your wheel choices are pretty limited with the lack of offset in the 2012 GT500 rotor that you have to use. I go over this in a thread titled "Frame Mods to Type 65 Coupe;" the info is likely outdated. I'm also not sure how well balanced that combo is but it's probably better than some tiny old Mustang calipers on the rear. But it will keep you under budget. I put the combo together when I had more time than disposable income and frankly it would be easier just to save up and buy what fits and works from the get-go.
Some folks have adapted the 2015+ rotor and caliper combo to their FFR SN95 geometry spindles but I am not sure if those kits are commercially available. I would call Forza Cars in Ohio as they were working on that. That would open up wheel choices dramatically.
Edit: I only read the first post and should have read the clarifying replies. The above will almost certainly interfere with any 17" wheels.

JMHO .... if you arn't racing or autocrossing ..... why do you think the stock OEM brake set-up that was designed for the Mustang which weighs considerably more than your Cobra isn't going to be sufficient to safely stop your car ????? ..... traction works both ways accelerating and stopping ( also how many G's you can pull in turns ) ..... I'm pretty sure the tires on the Cobra are going to be at least 25% more than the Mustang's ..... good luck ..... Mike :)[COLOR="#0000FF"]............PS. I just bought a 5 bolt conversion kit ( front rotors with rear drums & axels ) for $380.00 shipped .....now that's budget priced/COLOR]
