A couple of things that I did and am thinking of..

I boxed the headlamps with high density foam core and made new nose supports. These will be covered with a layer of fiberglass after I embed mounts for the struts.

I closed off the front of the nose with some high density foam core. This will be covered with a layer of fiberglass.

I took the hood opening and bonded some high density foam core to the lip to make it one inch thick. This will allow me to seal it with the new ducting. It has yet to covered with a layer of fiberglass.

I made new ducting for the rad. The top will have a bulb seal with the underside of the hood to match the new lip. The front will seal to the front of the nose where I closed it in.

I also plan to make fiberglass wheel wells that are mounted to the frame and not the hood. This is just like the Aussie Daytona Sportscar.

It will be painted in the same manner as the originals.

Lots of interesting examples. I know a some guys cut holes in the hood or add a scoop. I like the idea of ducting cold air to the intake. My car has stack injection, which adds complication but anything is better than having those intake horns 2" from the hood bump where all the hot air lives! I am currently working on a ducted plenum to pull air from the area in front of the engine near the ground where the cool air lives. I'll post up some pics when I get it done.

The Burton/Karns coupe look pretty simular to these.

(CSX2287) Also you can see how the cowl scoops are in the hood because the cowl of CSX2287 was so much smaller than the other 5. The hood cut outs are wiper arm notches.

I have been concerned with how I am going to secure the upper shields. But I think I have found the answer...
Note the black frame tube that runs from the rear reinforcement to the front reinforcement in the nose, which would provide an excellent point to attached the upper splash shields to. so this could serve not only a functional purpose but also one to replicate.
