Does anyone have experience with converting a 1995 5.0 ford with EFI to a carb? Mainly curious about the electric gremlins I may be creating.
Thanks for any tips in advance!

Besides changing the intake and carburetor you need to change the distributor and the fuel pump. you have to stay with a electric fuel pump because there is no eccentric on the cam for a mechanical pump. you can just swap out the pump in the tank with a low pressure one. The ignition depends on what distributor you use. if you use a 1974 to 1986 ford unit you need the control box for that distributor. if you use an aftermarket you have to use a matching ignition. You could use a old fashion set up with points then you only need a coil. If you use a carburetor with a electric choke you have to run a wire for that otherwise you unplug the 2 plugs from the back of the intake. Some delete the computer and wiring but it is not necessary. The last one I did was a 93 but they are almost the same

There are EFI to carb specific fuel pressure regulators but they’re not cheap. (a little over $300) I’d likely use an MSD complete ignition system. Those two items should make it easier to convert.
If you’re in a state/county that requires smog testing, you may not pass.

I recently wanted to be rid of the old tech 5.0 EFI as well. It worked ok but always felt it could be better. I suggest you might look into the Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 EFI system. You already have the fuel system and pretty much everything comes in the kit. The individual parts to go to a Carb setup will cost about the same. Edelbrock supplies the manifold, distributor wiring harness, gaskets, throttle body and a wireless tablet. I put one on my car and love it! the system is easy to install, runs right out of the gate and learns itself quickly. IF you want to make adjustments they can be done on the pad. I only adjusted 2 or 3 minor thinks to suit myself. The car is so much more crisp and fun to drive, I can hardly believe how much better it is!

Pro-Flo 4 here as well!
