Just a bit of a rant.I have said it before and I will say it again. This forum is great. I started building my truck in January. I asked a lot of questions and was given a lot of answers and suggestions. Never once was I treated like a dumb ***. I came up with some ideas and was given a LOT of ideas. My last post was about how I went thru the tranny cover with slotted openings to enable me to remove the top tranny cover and get at things. One of the answers to that post was from Sbda4 who went one better and actually did the same thing but made it so the whole tranny cover could be removed and still leave the cable runs in place in their respective grommets (brilliant idea). It got me to thinking. There is an old saying "Why reinvent the wheel". I am going to do that to mine as well making it (I think) better and as a result not having to go thru the firewall with any electrical cables. So here is the end of my rant. Wouldn't it be great if someone (not me) was to go thru all the posting , pull out all the great ideas and put them in one file. It would make it so much easier to build the truck. Anyway that sounds like a great job for the folks at FFR. Again thanks again for all the help all you guys have given me. I am a long ways from being done but I am on the home stretch.

Agreed - I was just reading that thread as well and saving the photos to my "great build ideas folder". Sounds like a job for a FFR intern; Even some very simple updates to the manual would save a lot of frustration. I always use as an example, the guy that documented how to assemble the shocks/springs should have done the whole manual.
But yes, the ideas shared here are invaluable. I would not be able to do this without all of you.

Here's a good tip for searching the forum. In Google, enter

thefactoryfiveforum.com: <WhateverSearchTerm>

...where <WhateverSearchTerm> = whatever you want to search for. Keep the search term short for best results.

As far as promoting threads into articles that are at the top of a model section, and being able to categorize it all, believe it or not that's all existing capability.

David, do you know if anyone at FFR actively monitors the forum with an eye toward incorporating ideas into future revisions of the product? In general, FFR produces a wonderful product, and they do continuously improve it over time (the 25th anniversary cars had some nice improvements to them) but it seems that there are certain aspects of the build that are more or less universally known to be a problem and seem like they would be fairly easy to address but persist for years. From the roadster side of the house (because that's what I know) two examples that come to mind are the e-brake mechanism (which is just a bag of heartache as designed) and the fact that the trunk handle hole isn't drilled in line with the license plate light. Is there anyone over there that suggestions for design improvements could be passed along to?
