Anybody got any experience of under car exhausts on the Roadster? Specifically keen to see pics of Mark Dougherty's solution as he will be doing it for us (if we go for it).
I really like the look of side pipes, but just don't think it will ever pass the noise tests in the UK SVA (Special Vehicle Assessment) registration process.
Pics would be appreciated if you've got them (of any under car exhaust solution). I tried a search on the other forum, but didn't get many results. Might be searching for the wrong thing though!

ps. Placing my first order with a vendor tonight, many more to come in the next 4 months as we acquire all the "extras".

I believe Ian Hunter has side pipes and I know he got through UK SVA. You may want to touch base with him if you really want side pipes. Persnally I want to go UTC.

Thanks Joee. I was filtering on the Roadster only so was only getting a few results. I had already seen your posts and it looks and sounds like it turned out great. Is there a solution that doesn't go below the rails?

Chris - Ian took his car through IVA (Independent Vehicle Assessment) which was subsequently changed to the SVA. The SVA is much stricter than IVA and no "stuffing steel wool" during the day. If they pick you up for anything, you have to go away, fix it, then come back another day and spend 8 hours having everything checked again.
Ian's car is pretty awesome. He's the only guy I know that deliberately made his car louder! I still grin like an idiot when I think about the time he started it up for me.

I should probably add that Ian doesn't think that a 400HP car will get through the SVA these days, or that a 400HP car that wasn't EFI would pass the emissions test.
Under car exhaust or mufflers & cats etc. to hope that you meet the noise level requirements
EFI almost seems like the only choice now and with the way things are going, it is only going to be tougher in 2 years when we are closer to finishing.

Yes it has been done in the tranny tunnel with mufflers in the rear. Its been done through the frame tube. I think I have some of the posts book marked on my home computer.

Based on another undercar exhaust thread on ffcars, there is a lot of interest in various solutions. My MK4 arrives in a few weeks so I've got a little time to research solutions, but I'm very intrested in hearing and seeing what you've done and it would be good to clarify whether you offer a kit or whether the install needs to be done onsite at your facility. I'll be using a Coyote engine with IRS so that may present additional challenges.

How about undercar exhaust that exits just in front oif the rear tire? I have nice oval exhaust pipes where it exits....

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, so just tossing it in. How about using oval exhaust tubing to help with clearance underneath? Check out Dr Gas (http://www.drgas.com/) for tons of oval tubing options.

I'd love to see those pics as well. I've often thought it'd be the only way to go.

im still considering going to undercar instead of side pipes.
