Just ordered the MK4 Complete Kit yesterday, and plan on Gen 3 Coyote with TKX transmission with A/C & PS from Mike Forte and now the waiting begins...
This will be a road car for trips and fun, not planning on racing but want the creature features to make it enjoyable year round.
Planning on having Whitby Motors do the paint and body work.
Also plan on going to build school (although I hate they raised the price $200.00)
Here is what I ordered
MK4 Complete Kit
Powder coated chassis
No exhaust system (going with Gas-N touring pipes and headers)
5.0 L Coyote Mounts
Hydraulic Clutch
Body cutouts
Seats vinyl for now (Plan on recovering with interior)
Power steering basic kit
Tubular front lower control arms
IRS Suspension
Vintage gauges (mph)
15X8/15X9 Halibrand wheels
Based on answers to ride quality & handling
Full hoop bumpers front & rear
SS Roll Bars driver and passenger
Wind Wings
Sun Visors
Wiper Kit
Front & Rear Sway bars
In tank fuel system
Side Louvers
Center Dash support
Coyote installation kit
Center Section, Spindles, and Hubs
I had a few questions that I would appreciate and feedback on.
What are some of the build treads you found most helpful?
Are folks using the forum, facebook, both when asking questions
Anything I might be missing, or should be looking at?
Anyone doing a build anywhere around Wilmington, NC? would love the opportunity to see how your project is going.
thanks in advance
Vern
PS - Don't tell the wife what I spent

welcome to the madness
edwardb's 20th anniversary roadster build thread is regarded by most to be the most complete "bible" of build threads. I believe it was a coyote with IRS as well.
I found some others to browse as well on both forums (ffcars). Both forum members are generally very helpful, but will help you spend your money faster than you can imagine.
Facebook builder group is good but often littered with too much extraneous commentary.
If not doing a heater, consider heated seats which will extend your driving season. Forte sells them and it'll be a snap to install if you're getting your seats re-wrapped.
Go through the entire Breeze automotive catalogue. You'll find stuff you didn't know you needed. I highly recommend all of his radiator pieces (fan shroud, upper and lower rad mounts), adjustable seat mounts, offset steering rack bushings.
If you're organized, try to order parts (Jegs, summit, breeze, amazon, etc) in large batches to save on shipping. I didn't have much experience when I first started and did one part of the build at a time, trying to digest as much as I could at once. As a result, I spent probably way more on shipping costs than I should have.
Good luck!

Have not placed the engine order yet as I don't expect to start the build until July (retirement project). What are you hearing?

Congrats Vern!
If you want to use 15" rims with the IRS you'll have to also purchase the #16765 brake kit---15 inchers won't fit with the 2015 Mustang rear brakes.
As for where to go for info; I think you'll get more accurate answers with less (sometimes useless) chatter here than through the various Facebook pages. Many of us participate in both, and you'll soon recognize who they are, but FB also has a lot of non builders who frequently throw in incorrect &/or inexperienced comments. I think many times a new builder could have a hard time weeding out the good from the bad. The answers and comments you'll get here will generally come from builders who have "been there, done that."
Good luck and keep us updated!
Jeff

I am not even sure. I ordered a BPE 347 only to send it back and upgrade to a FI 427 HO. They advised that the Dart blocks are not available and they weren't sure when they would become available. I figure I'll give them until January and then if they still don't have the blocks I'll go with Forte. FYI, I got my axle from him, he's great!

I am not sure if ordering a crate engine makes a difference in timing or not, so that might be part of it.

Thanks,
I have been looking through edwardb's 20th anniversary build tread and it is quite detailed. Will need to review it a couple of time as there is a ton of information provided.
thanks again!
