First huge thank you to Jeff Kleiner for speaking to me on the phone and walking me through the trunk fitment. It was mission critical to get his perspective and he went above and beyond for helping me. I am humbled everyday by the generosity here.

Onto my Noob fitment question. I have done a rough in of my hood with block sanding and the gaps are still tight as I plan on driving in gel coat for a while before final paint. I am noticing when the hood is roughly lined up in the hole there is a mild cant either on the hood or body when I open the hood completely. The gap between the hood and front of the engine bay is symmetrical. Is this something I will need to address in the final sanding of the hood ( I don't think this would really help) or do I need to adjust the body and hood hinges a little more OR is this sort of a normal finding on these rigs? I just don't want to take more material off and I also don't want to chase my tail either.

This fitment process has been sort of weird compared to the rest of the build. I can spend 6 hours adjusting one little aspect and feel like I did not get anything done. Oh well gotta embrace the hard with the easy I guess.

Wait a minute....... If it's going to take you a couple of hours to undo my mess on the phone then I really did a number on my hood fitment

I found this thread about the hood opening.

As long as it fits when closed I would ignore the slight taper to the front gap when opened. Mine old mkII hood always looked that way (although to the opposite side) because it didn't have the gas struts and the prop rod was on the driver side. You might want to double check your hinge assemblies. They are a real pain to assemble correctly so you could have a slight difference between the two causing more friction on one.

YUP! The hood hinge mounting G brackets on the frame are not symmetrical so when the hood opens it is not symmetrical...da Batl

Thank you guys!I spoke with Jeff and he said the same thing that the hood opening and brackets are not symmetrical. I will let this go and get back to work. And thanks for the reminder to double check my hinges to ensure correct assembly. I had assembled them a couple of weeks ago after I powder coated the parts so it was a good refresher to do a once over on them.
