I was curious how these changes to Rodney Olmos's car, from the original Blue to the new Red, affected peoples opinion of it. I would think everyone would love it but peoples opinions, liking some of the cars I dislike and disliking some I like, makes me wonder. I tried to list most of the possible responses someone would have to the changes but it makes the list look a little childish. I wanted to get as much info out of the one survey though. Please pick one.

You have missed an option off your check list.

"I liked it before and I like it even more now".

Sorry I was coming from the point of view that I really didn't like it and now it is my favorite so unfortunately I didn't think of that one.
"I liked it but now it is my favorite" Is close but it does miss the fact that now it might not be your #1 pick

I liked it before, and now it's way more better-er. :D

BTW, the new "O" is orange.

I won't vote in this one, but I will say that I'm far from convinced it can be built without making even more major changes that will drastically change it's flavor again.

I AM a current fan, however. I wasn't before.

I totally apprciate Rodney for taking the critisism in stride and working to make it producable. So, props to Rodney, and I would totally build something from him just becasue of his attitude to the whole process. Professional.

^Totally agree^ Rodney has taken some of the same criticism as others and just takes it in stride and continues to make his design better.

Agreed, Rodney certainly had the most love / hate design out of everyone. He has done a great job modifying the design so it appears that a good majority of the people who hated his design now love it (myself included)

It's not quit there for me.I don't like the front grill area or the tail end being black.I would like to see the front end something like the XK-E Jag.

I would like to see the rear of the car improved but I like the rest of it so much now, I wouldn't care if it stayed the same. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be an orange-ish Red or a burnt orange color. I used to have a kitcar that was originally red but had started to look kind of orange.:o

He did a great job updating his car. What if the other two winners had free times on there hands and went back to modified their car? Wouldn't that make Rodney's design slipped back to the same standard? It's a never ending competition.

We can only hope! Could you imagine if the modifications made to the other cars were so great they leapt to the front again. I think the Vantage and Whetstone design might suffer if modified too much. There beauty lies in there simplicity and flow.

Wouldn't that make Rodney's design slipped back to the same standard? It's a never ending competition.

It looks a bit like the TVR Sagaris. But that is the best of compliments :-)

That was my immediate reaction when I saw it. TVR. Again a compliment . Just hope it doesn't have the same build quality and reliability issues that all TVR's seem to suffer with. I am quite sure it will be the complete opposite with Subaru and FFR pedigree.

Well, they are the same color! If it hints at looking like anything now I would say a Ferrari 458. I think it might even look better than the 458, and that is coming from someone who didn't even like the design before the changes. And no I don't think it now looks like a 458 in any respect that would make the design any less original.

Now that's a stretch, 458 it is not, but would I want it in my garage....hell yes. Just for the record, of the 4 scale models the blue was my first choice. The orange one is off the hook.

There is really no comparison with the blue rendering and the latest. The only thing about the Olmos I wasn't completely sold on was the original front end. It appeared to me that the front end was out of perspective (flat looking or two dimensional) but the orange version with the front end changed is amazing!!! It's not just the changes but it looks like a real car sitting on the ground with all the correct lighting and every aspect of it is in proportion and correct perspective. It makes my heart race every time I look at it!!!

Note: the negative curve between the rear fender and the top does look "ferrari-ish". WEK.

I was just looking at the flow of the car. Much closer then the TVR.

Even with a side droop added they have very little in common, so I agree.

There is a little fang in the grille work if you squint a lot.

One thing to take away from the TVR is the way they line up the door. Look at the leading edge of the door and how it curves into the fender. Creates a big gap that doesn't look like a big gap. Maybe a way to make it easy to line of the doors without having the fender stick out like on Jim's design.

While Rodney's car is much better now IMHO, I still like Shawn's design better.

I've been catching up from last week and trying to get thru some of the design updates here for the 818. I havent read all the threads and yet I have some observations. W egot a ton of feedback at the SEMA show and the interest in the subie powerplant and 818 core concept matches that of the GRM and FFR community to date... Huge interest and ready-to-buy enthusiasm that is genuine. The Subaru crowd is fanatical and really stoked to get a sleek and lightweight sports/hyper car for that killer running gear.

Let me re-cap my feeling on another thread as this one seems dedicated to Rodneys design
