Has anyone installed more than one layer of cool mat or dyna mat in the foot boxes ? To help reduce foot box heat .

I'd be careful with how much you layer on the inside in certain areas, especially the inside wall next to the gas pedal. Space is at a premium there, especially if you have large feet. I installed heat shielding on the outside (engine compartment) side to supplement what I installed on the inside.

I think most of the heat comes in from the gaps between the footbox and the body. you can also consider putting in a heat shield if you have room between your headers and the front wall of your footbox. I'm running J pipes so I have a ton of space between the two, but most of the heat is coming from around the footbox and not through it.

Breeze Automotive sells a heat shield product that is aluminum and fiberglass about 1/8" thick with a ultra sticky backing that works extremely well with heat off the headers. I installed it on the outside of my footboxes and like the results.

I sprayed lizard skin, have stick on insulation on the engine bay side and wrapped my headers. I have no real footbox heat.

Similar approach for me. Lizard Skin heat and sound insulation on the inside, DEI heat shield on the outside, and ceramic coating on the headers. Haven't started the engine yet, so can't comment on heat.

I went with the Koolmat from Breeze and I have ceramic coated headers. We drive often with just shorts, T shirt, and light shoes in 85 to 90 degree weather. I can say that my foot boxes are NOT hot. Feels really no different than the ambient air in the rest of the cockpit. I think you will be just fine with some form of heat and sound insulation and then either ceramic coated headers or some kind of heat shields. Many on here would say the heat shield are not necessary and only the insulation is needed.

I have a single layer of insulation on the inside of both footboxes and that works for us. Even in summer heat, I find it acceptable. Of course it's a lot warmer than in an air conditioned car, but that's to be expected. It all depends on how you define comfort, though. Acceptable heat levels are going to be different for everyone. Insulate as much as you think you need, just don't crowd your accelerator as John suggested above.

I used Noico (from Amazon) directly on the sheet metal for sound deadening, then glued (using 3M 77) Reflectix (from Home Depot) on top of that. Then the carpet went over that. I have zero issues with radiant heat.

I used Dynamat Dynaliner on the floor of the footboxes. This was on top of the aluminum backed insulation.
It reduces road noise, and allows a little flexing of the carpet, so the seams don't pull apart. It may not help with the heat issue so much, put perhaps a little.

I made some aluminum panels with standoffs on the engine side. Lizard skin and carpet on the inside. Seems to do the trick just fine.

I used a Dynamat type material in my build. I ran for a period without the kit provided expansion foam strips and found the car very warm with a lot of heat coming in from the space between the body and the chassis and not, as far as I could discern, through the foot boxes. I was pleasantly surprised at how effective the foam was in eliminating the cabin heat issue.

Insulation only on the inside on all my builds. I've used various products. Dynamat, Second Skin Damplifier Pro, and the Lizard Skin combination of sound and heat spray-on. In all cases with carpet on top, I've never noticed or had a problem with heat. IMO, unless you have a particular situation where you can't install insulation on the inside (not sure what that would be...) I've never been a big believer in insulation on the engine side. Even though I know some do it. I like the clean look without it and if it's not needed (based on experience), why?

A number of guys put powered vents in the footboxes. I've played around with non-powered ones. Maybe helps some to keep air moving. But at best it's going to be the temp of outside air.

Hot air infiltration from the engine and off the headers is your biggest enemy and will feel like a blast furnace on a hot day. That and that big yellow ball in the sky.

I did what boat 737 did and some noico on the floor , It worked wonders , Ed

Wow - you did a really nice job on those heat shields.
