Coupe with removable middle

Might be a random question and off the wall, but has anyone tried to make the hardtop have a removable middle? It would be like the corvettes or something. The reason I ask is because I am torn between the original one and the coupe, both have their pros and cons for different elements. The best would be to have a coupe with a removable middle, but not sure if it is possible or anyone looked at trying it.

I'm going the same way as Jet, S to a removable top. Driver behind my decision was I did not like the profile of the Coupe. However it shouldn't be too hard, just need to build a flange to hold the Targa and the weather seal and device a fastening system.
