So as the title says, I got a bit crazy when trimming my hood where it meets the body. Turns out the hood was stuck on the radiator shroud while fitting which caused me to trim a bit too much off and curious on best next steps.

My plan is to bevel the edge, take some woven fiberglass cloth and extend the hood edge about 3/4 inch then sand to fit this time.

I see one post mentions 700 Vinyl Ester Resin, any other hints/products ideas will be appreciated. Also curious on the approach , I was thinking taping aluminum foil to the bottom of the hood after sanding back the edge on an angle. Then closing the hood, allowing the aluminum foil to form to the body edge. Next would be to lay on a woven cloth approx 1.5 wide (what oz cloth ?). May need 2 - 3 layers and let cure. Finally flip the hood over and put one layer on the bottom (this will be covers with truck bed liner later.

Appreciate any assistance/input.

US Composites is a good source for materials. 700 Vinyl ester resin is a good choice along with fiberglass mat. You may want to check in with Jeff Kleiner or Jeff Miller on the best technique for this situation. Not sure what you are proposing above, but I would lay up primarily on the bottom of the hood 6-8 inches from the edge and extending the new lip a few inches beyond what you need so you can cut to size after curing. I would majorly score the underside surface so it grabs the resin/glass. It may take a lot of layers of mat. Maybe use 1 1/2 ounce mat. You can order multiple sizes to try out because it is cheap. 3/4 ounce may be a little light. It also would be a good idea to figure out how to lay the mat into a mold(beyond the existing hood edge) so it lays in line with the existing hood contour. Be careful with the rubber spacers during fitment. If the spacer are too tall when the hood is latched close, the pressure could cause problems with your repair.
