View Full Version : Coyote problem... no crank. What voltage do I need on the relay?

Gen 2 coyote swap here, and it has been running fine for months, but ran into an issue after installing HP tuners on my laptop and connecting to my ECU. The ECU still works (I think), as I'm able to read / write, and scan every PID that's available, but it will not *crank*.

Just to be sure it wasn't a coincidence, I checked the starter solenoid and it engages when I jump it. I also jumped out the starter relay (R3 of the PDB), and it cranks. BUT, I checked voltage on the switch side of the starter relay, and I only have 5v on one side and 2.5v on the other, and it doesn't change when I try to crank it via the momentary ignition switch. (Seems like odd voltages to me)

In HP Tuners I can see when I hit the ignition switch, as the "starter relay" PID goes from OFF to ON, but I don't see any voltage change at the switch side of the relay. Clutch switch works, and the ECU registers that I'm calling for start request, so I'm assuming at this point the ECU output to the starter relay isn't working...

Can anyone confirm the voltage I should be looking for at the switch/contact side of the relay at both "key on engine off" and during a start request? Thanks!!
