Holy smokes! I can't fathom the concentration and reaction time necessary to drive a car 130mph up a mountainous road. The section of dirt/gravel that he drove through at 90mph around the 3min mark was crazy. It's amazing what he's been able to accomplish in his motorsports career.

There's another clip where he talks about training for the event using the simulator. It is amazing the level of sophistication they have now to reproduce all the bumps and nuances of the real course - said he can run times within a tenth of a second between the two.

WOW, all I kept thinking about is going over the edge. You would probably roll 200 times. Very impressive.... Big cahonas, and nerves of steel.

AGAIN????? It wasn't that long ago he smashed the Pike's Peak record.
I don't understand how a talented "supercross guy" is able to beat driving records - meaning he's beat out people that have been professional drivers their whole life!
I also have mention that I have a friend that was one of the creators of MTV Sports back in the day and he's worked with Travis on several occasions. He said he's all-American, drug free, and overall great guy.

Wow, did you note he's still working to warm up his tires at over 100mph?

George, maybe that is a nervous tic or checking the lug nut torque.
Looking at the upper left corner of the screen is Higgins heart rate.....moderate, not nervous.
This in contrast the the Steve McQueen starting grid heart rate audio drama in the Lemans movie.
Seems that heart rate increases due to steer and brake effort, and maybe when he hits VRS to reduce downforce and drag.
BTW I assume Higgins tires were electrically warmed before he rolled away.

I've driven that road several times at normal speeds. Can't believe how he does this. Gives me the willy's just thinking about it.
