Having so much fun driving I ignored some of the less important punch list items. Looking to address this minor annoyance with speedhut tach. The tach jumps sporadically around the 1600-2k RPM mark. Mostly this happens when I'm in 5th and cruising at speed. When ripping thru 1-4 gears or idle the gauge appears to work fine. I have it spliced into the coil of #8 (closest cylinder to driver). Unsheathed a small section of wire on the engine and soldered per FFR coyote instructions.

Anyone experience something similar?

I would suspect the speedhut guage, especially since you soldered the connection. Passing through the trouble rpm range is likely masking the condition and cruising there is probably highlighting it.

Haven't seen that with two different installations on Gen 2 and Gen 3 Coyote with Speedhut gauges. Rock solid. Whatever cylinder you use doesn't matter. As long as good connections and the right wire out of the three going to the coil pack. Sounds like you have the right one or it wouldn't indicate anything. Agree likely a gauge issue. I'd contact Speedhut.

Just off the phone with Speedhut.... I'm on a first name basis with these guys now...

Explained that the tachs are sensitive to any system noise so is sending out a filter to see if that does it... if not will send gauge back in for re-build. I must say that after all the back and forth with speedhut on the oil pressure sender, the fuel gauge and now this they do stand behind their product and have some good customer service. Kudos!

Not sure how noise can enter as the tach is a single wire spliced into coil. If this is correct noise would be coming from engine which would bring me greater concern.

I have the same issue, I have almost 2700 miles on it since April and it just started bouncing the last couple hundred miles. Glad this came up, I searched the forum the other day and came up with nothing. I will be contacting Speedhut as well.

Geez, this really stinks! I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with your gauges. Tell me, are the gauges as old as the original kit or did you get them later? I'm wondering if they aged-out/dried out/ or something like that? Mine are (so far) fine and we have the same set up, twins separated by six or seven years...

Hope it get sorted out soon!
