As my car is on final assy with paint being now done, and hopfully a whole butt load of fun miles coming my way. I iinstalled the Holley Sniper unit on my car replaceing the Holley 600 my engine came with about four months ago. I have a bunch of driveway time on this unit with no real street drive learning time. I have heard here that they can learn and hold bad habits from not doing road driving for learning. First question is that true? Second question if it is true, can I just reset factory settings and start over? I notice when cold ( less then 150 degrees) and I take off up the drive (500 feet) and come to a stop it will either shut off or the IAC will kick in and run the RPM up to about 2000 for a few seconds then settle back down. Both of these conditions I find annoying since I changed to the Sniper to eleviate cold engine driveability issues. My TPS sensor is set to zero and my IAC runs usually 5-8 after warmup, all over the place before then. Idle is 750 RPM. Stock distributor that comes on the BPE 347 with no timing control other then vacuum advance and internal advance. Any thoughts.

sniper doesnt start real learning untill temp is 160 and above and it will take couple hundred miles to do all learning.the cutting off when stopping will go away rather quickly once you start driving car often also make sure to adjust your iac in the 4 to 8 range
this needs to be done after motor is at normal temp probaly 180 to 185 this is done with idle screw close blades to increase iac number or open blades to decrease iac number.also keep in mind the sniper settings are always set rich so at some put
you need to adjust air fuel mixture on my 347 i have idle f/r at 14.5 and 14.1 at cruze and 13.4 at wot im getting around 18-22mpg and car is alot of fun to drive

I assume that you left your previous ignition system in place so the Sniper is NOT controlling timing, fan or anything else, correct?
Did you go through the initial Sniper setup process that including running up to 160+ temp, setting the IAC, idle screw, etc? This is essential for the Sniper to have a good foundation before it "learns" the other stuff.
There is some PC software that allows you to configure a lot more than the "quick start" menus and other access through the handheld. This includes ramp down to idle that you're mentioning. However, start with that initial setup procedure and see how things go

I did my First Start a couple days ago and I had a similar experience with the engine just shutting off after about 20 minutes idling in the driveway. I've got the Blueprint 302 with the Sniper and a Holley external fuel pump. The Sniper controls the fan and it came on at 180 degrees. The engine was running great until it just stopped. I thought I was out of gas, so I added more and re-started it. Ran great for 45 seconds when it stopped again. I called Blueprint and was told that the Sniper does not like to sit and idle. Especially when new. Jose said to go-cart the car and put 5 to 25 miles on it fluctuating the speed. Let the Sniper learn. Gonna do that this weekend. I hope that's the only issue. Good luck.
The only learning that the Sniper does is the "learn" fuel map. If you want to go back to factory, just clear the learn table. If you've made other changes, you can reload the Factory tune file.
