Trying to fit the aluminum piece which covers the fuel fill area and it's too short to seal against body. Anyone else have this issue and if so I assume you make an extension piece?

Yes and yes. Mentioned in my build thread. But took me a while to find it. No surprise you (or others) wouldn't have. Riveted some pieces along the top before installing. Also put some bulb seal along the new edge against the body. I looked, and don't have any pictures.
From the build thread: "Finally, also wrapped up the fuel filler and tank vent. I followed the instructions in the manual to cut the SS filler tube and piece together with supplied flex tubing. Worked out pretty well. Two minor issues: The right angle flex connection out of the LeMans cap ended up hard against the edge of the opening in the hatch side wall. So I extended the bottom of the cutout in the side wall to clear. Didn't think it should be dragging directly on the edge. Meant moving the cover that goes inside the hatch area down a bit and leaves an opening at the top. I think it would have been too short anyway. Maybe FF didn’t plan to have that area sealed. But I want it to be. I’ll add some pieces onto the cover to fill the gap. Totally hidden behind the body and under carpet when done."

Thank you. I didn't trim my side panels and the cover is still too short. Something FF needs to work on. But thinking about it a little more I don't think you could get the cover on considering its up against the roll cage tubing and it needs to get under the body lip? Thanks for the info and I will do the same.

Your fitment might vary from mine. Just go with it. But you'll find the piece is too short as you mentioned. Make it fit to fill. Also I remember I made new carpet pieces in that area because they too were short as well.
