I'm running a Blueprint engines 5.0. When I did my recent oil change I inadvertently grabbed the wrong oil (20W-50). Is this oil too thick? I live in Daytona beach where i's hot. At WOT the oil pressure indicates approx 65psi.

Perhaps not the optimum oil for a street driven car. Having said that, I run 15W50 with both track and street use. Oil pressure of 65 is OK. The oil will be thickest and thus the highest pressures when the engine is cold. After starting for the first time in the day, what do your pressures run at idle and, say 2K rpm? By the way, don't WOT with a cold engine.

IMO, yes. No real street engine needs a 50 weight oil. It takes energy to move it around, and it's a waste of energy. Also, It puts a lot of strain on the distributer gear. Hit the gas too hard before the oil is near full temp, and you'll shear the pin.

I also prefer a 0W or 5W oil. More than that and it takes longer to flow throughout the engine after a cold start.

Windsor engines don't need 65psi of oil pressure.
