I am wondering what everyone is running. I am looking at building using a donor from these years. I see on FFR website that the halibrand wheels will not fit these axles. Can anyone tell me what the issue is that makes them not work? Can I just use any wheel that fits this year range mustang?

The issues is the 00-04 axles are wider than the earlier years' axles.

My Mk3.1 is built with a 2001 GT donor, using the Mustang front spindles and rear axle. I bought my wheels from FFR, but that was back in 2008. They are the Team III Wheels Halibrand Replica. I've added 1" spacers behind the rear wheels to bring them out a little for looks and to prevent rubbing on the aluminum. They're definitely not old school "deep dish" look. :D

I don't know if you can get them from ET/Team III, but at least here are the specs of my wheels: Front 17 x 9, 6” backspace. Rear 17 x 11, 8.75” backspace.

Tires: 245/45 R17 front and 315/35 R17 rear.

Looks good. I don't think they sell those wheels anymore. But that backspacing is what makes them work. Thank you for your help.
