View Full Version : Sub stap hole in CobraHeat seat heaters

I'm going to drop off my seats to be re-upholstered today. I'm also going to have them add the CobraHeat waterproof seat heaters to them. The length seems like it will work fine if I wrap the heater around the front edge of the seat. Anyone see a problem with that? The other option would be to have them trim the heater short at the front edge of the seat. I've read through the instructions and they indicate that it's OK to cut holes in the middle of the heating pad as long as the strips on either side are not disturbed, but I wanted to double-check before I ruin a set of seat heaters. Anyone see a problem with cutting a hole as indicated by the blue painters tape?

Thanks!

The elements you have to avoid are way closer together than the size of the hole you plan to put in the pad. I recommend just cutting the length just shy of the sub-belt opening and call it good.

I had an upholsterer do the exact same thing with my seats. No issues. The seats still get toasty.

Grrr - sorry for the sideways pic.

The heating element in these is a carbon honey comb, so there aren't wires, per se, to avoid in the middle. I thought I'd heard of others doing this but wanted to get some positive confirmation before doing this.

Mark - thanks for confirming.
