Hey Guys,

I understand this will totally depend on the type of battery used, but I wanted to ask for those that have the Infinitybox inReserve setup, how long does it generally take for the system to automatically trip to the off position on its own.

Thanks!!

I believe that the threshold is 12.2V.....which for a normal lead-acid car battery....according to my battery charger....takes the battery down to about 60%. This is why I always advise my customers to not rely on the inReserve to do this for you and instead, manually trip the inReserve every time you leave the car for more than a few hours. Yes, there will still be enough battery left to start the engine, but after the inReserve has allowed the battery to be drained to 60% for the 5th or 6th time, your battery will be toast. That is why I always install the manual pushbutton in the top louver of the driver's side side scoop louvers. Easy to just reach in there after you get out of the car and kill the system.....and reach in there when approaching the car to power it back up.

Time-wise.....on a good lead-acid car battery, I would say it takes about 2-3 days. The Infinitybox system has significant draw.....if memory serves, I'm thinking the last one I checked was around 250ma.

Oh....and if the battery is already drawn down to 12.2V, I think the inReserve will trip again after about 30 seconds......so once you push the button to power the system back up, you have 30 seconds to get the car started and alternator pumping up the voltage before it trips again.

Awesome, thanks for the response Shane!!!

I think you have lithium phosphate battery and these are almost dead at 12V and with not much power and the internal impedance goes up for 3V per cell.

I'm guessing that Infinitybox can adjust the voltage that trips the inReserve for you......

I’m betting they could. Jay is pretty crafty with this setup.

So I mistakenly left the system on the other night and when I checked the battery voltage in the morning it was still 13.4V.

they stay within 12.8v to 13.4v from about %20 to %80 specially with light loads like under 1A, so in funny way is hard to have a accurate based on %capacity turn off point.

Most lithium battery use gas gauge to measure capacity since voltage measurement does not always work well for accrete turn off points, is is easy to say when has no much capacity but hard to say if is has %30 or %70 without gas gauge.

so best have very light loads when car is off so you are at least good for few weeks and not few day.

With KGTM's post, I would probably ask Jay if they can trip the inReserve based on a timer instead of voltage? Maybe after 15-30 minutes of ignition off, trip the inReserve?

Now that would be slick if he could do that. I’m writing this down for some of the custom changes I’ll eventually ask for
