One wire in the red box comes off the back drivers side of the transmission. It has a round plug. The mystery wire looks to come from the RF harness. Can't see a mate for it to plug into. Plug has outside grippers on each narrow edge. Wire is hanging at the point it was disassembled I believe. Of course that is the one wire not in any of my pre-disassembly photos.

General question. Just switched to a SpeedHut GPS speedo. Are any wires required from the transmission to any place on the harness?

I get these resolved & its a runner once again.

I know there's a speedo cable in the RF harness. The other one might be a neutral safety switch, but I don't recall having that in my RF harness. I also have the GPS speedo and just zip tied off my speedo cable wire.

Not sure what it looks like in the harness - terminated all the old wires at gauge. This the heavy wire hanging loose might be the trans output but don't see a matching plug. IIRC the round plug is non-useable.

OK found a receiver for the rectangular plug on the other side of the transmission. Round plug necessary or not still an open question.

That looks like the neutral safety switch wires.

Good reference in post #9 in this thread:

There isn't anything in the RF harness for it, but you could make it work separately if you wanted to.

As far as your general question about wires needed if using a GOS speedometer. Short answer is no wires needed on the transmission. You can remove speedo gear and cap the opening. Reverse light is not necessary unless your area requires it. Neutral safety is not required.

Thanks for the info. Closed that issue out. Almost finished with interior update. A little trimming & fitting left. Recovered dash, console & transmission lid. New gauges. Some rearranging of things after a number of years usage. Higher quality toggle switches & rearranged the order of them.

Moved the spring centering blinker toggle to the right side of the wheel, to hard to reach where it was. Also moved small bail out fire extinguisher from transmission cover to rear bulkhead. Need to reset the seat its loose, put my snake & Cobra script back on the right side of the dash. Had to order fresh ones.

Still to do. Replace front fender liners, reroute right front brake hose, adjust new clutch, run engine to check for leaks. Hopefully thats all.
