MK4 Steering Flange Bearing Question

Hi All,
I have trimmed my flange bearing housing pieces so it can be mounted inside the footbox. The manual says to install the bearing with the set screws on the engine bay side. I see many build threads with it done opposite. How come?

It really doesn't matter. Just go with whichever provides the best access to the setscrews.

Mounting on the inside gives you more clearance if you ever need to remove the shaft between the foot box and the rack.
