Weighed my MK3 roadster tonight for the first time. If someone is building a big block car with a few extras, below is probably similar to what you can expect. Iron big block with aluminum heads and stack injection. I knew it was heavy but it's heavier than I thought it would be. Of course it has Dynamat everywhere and a tool storage area full of tools in the trunk. Manual steering and brakes, 2 roll bars and steel bell housing. Ride heights are 4-1/4" all the way around. This is with a 1/2 tank of fuel and the 245lb driver in it.

I would not leave the tools in for corner weighting. You should not run on the track with them in there anyway. I would have guessed more in the 2750 to 2850 but I don't have a BB to gage that estimate. With a Dart SHP block (heavier than factory 351W), dry sump components, carb, cool suit cooler filled with water, my MK II is very similar in options otherwise and weighs in at 2680 with a 200 lb weight for driver.

That does seem a little heavy. I have a big block with steel heads, this is what I ended up at.

Mine with driver, aluminum heads, 1/2 tank gas is 2850. Our club has scales for our upcoming scale day, will provide updated numbers when known.

Just curious, have any of y'all used your scales to determine the CG height? Seems the roaster would have a very low CG.

NAZ, no I haven't gone through the exercise. I did notice the procedure but didn't go through the effort. If I recall you jack the rear end up, take some readings level and jacked up, and then do the calculations. To do it right you should replace the front shock absorbers with solid bars, I didn't have 2 of those laying around ready to use.

As stiff as the FFR springs are I don't expect that to make a significant difference. When I finished my 33HR and calculated the CG height with me in the car I was surprised it was ~3" higher than I expected. Just wondering how a typical roaster build would look like. They just look like they would have a fairly low CG.

148lbs! How did you do in the Tour de France this year?

Work out six days a week and "try" to eat healthy.
