What brackets can I remove from the stock 2005 Mustang GT rear end I will be using for my truck build. It looks like I am not permitted to post pictures....yet. There is 2 on each end and a rubber oval little further toward center on both sides. I have pix just cant post them.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris, be sure and verify your gear ratio, input flange and condition before cutting off any brackets. I picked mine up from a salvage yard thinking it was a 3:15, after cutting brackets, cleaning and painting I discovered the prior owner had swapped in some 4:10’s. Here are a few pictures of what I cut off. Angle grinder, sawsall and a big hammer are handy. I also replaced the center bushing on the diff.

Super helpful. Thanks. Stickers are on showing it as a 3.55 which I want. I will have the seals replaced by a vendor here, so he will verify the ratio.

Verifying the ratio is easy, mark the axle flange noting the starting position. It should then take x number of turns of the yoke to complete one revolution of the axle flange. The number of yoke rotations gives you the ratio. Should only take you a few minutes to do.

1 Turn of the axle generated 3.5+ turns of the yoke.... so I am good, easy thing to do with the rear end out. Brackets ground off, son in law welded in my misshaps and off to sand blast we go. Then off to rebuild guy for new seals and overall check. Paint and just have to wait for my October Christmas present.
