So I am in the process of reading through all the gauge wiring/connections and noticed the Speed Hut Gauges supply its own 3 wire (White-signal, black-ground, red-5 volt reference) oil pressure sending unit. Is there anyway to use my oem 1 wire? Not a big deal to run the Speed Hut supplied wire but it would be cleaner to use the chassis harness oil sending wire already in place and not have to deal with finding an adapter to make the speed hut sending unit to fit in the larger threaded port on the block. Thanks for the help.

Nope. Different technology. Your 1-wire sender is a resistive unit. Getting the other side from ground. The Speedhut 3-wire is a voltage driven device. Two for power and one for load. Not compatible.

Thanks Paul, I’ll run with the one they supplied. I should be fine to use the oem temp sensor with the speed hut gauge correct?

I can't say for sure. You asked about using a 1-wire sensor for a 3-wire Speedhut gauge, and that's a non-specific engine answer. No. My SWAG answer to this question is probably not. For two reasons. I have no idea if the OE sending unit is compatible with the Speedhut temp sensor. I have only ever used the provided Speedhut sensors for my builds. Second, for a computer controlled engine like yours it's possible that system is expecting a signal out of the OE sensor(s). You need to know that before disconnecting them. For the Coyote (my familiarity) it's a mixed bag of leaving the OE sensor and putting the gauge sensor either in a separate location or on a "T" along with the OE sensor. Maybe it's a simpler answer for your engine. But I have no experience with that particular one. Lots of builds using it, so hopefully someone who actually knows will answer.

I built my MK4 using a 4.6L DOHC from a 2004 Mach 1. My gauges were Speedhut as are yours. As Paul has said, you need to use the sending units provided with the gauges. Like in the Coyote installs, the oil pressure sender must be Tee'd in with the OEM sensor. The water temp sender can replace a plug in the block on the left (driver's) side. I believe you may have to use a conversion fitting to match the plug threads on the block. Trying to use the OEM senders with the Speedhut gauges in likely to cause problems.

The simple answer is you must use Speedhut senders with Speedhut gauges.

Thank guys, I'll use the Speed hut sending units as recommended.
