View Full Version : Do undrilled wind wings exist?

I checked all the usual suspects for wind wings and it seems that everyone is selling pre-drilled wind wings. Due to some circumstances the holes in my windshield frame are spaced at 7 1/4 in, so I need a different set of wind wings.

if I understand correctly, my other option would be to find an aquarium shop and work with them to produce a new plexiglass set of wind wings, right?

Wind wings just clamp to the frame, never seen a set that uses holes in the frame?

Might just be easier to simply redrill the frame.

I think he is referring to looking for the windwings themselves that are plexiglass blanks without the predrilled holes for mounting. I have not seen a source for those.

I would try buying a sheet of the right thickness and cut/drill your own....use the old ones as a template. You can cut it with a scroll saw, band saw, jig saw, or a laser engraver. Finishing the edges is very easy with a few basic tools (sandpaper, dremel, heat gun, etc)....youtube has several video demonstrations. I have a CO2 laser engraver that should cut acrylic...was planning to relocate and set it up this weekend. If I get time I will experiment. If I am successful I would be more than happy to cut you some undrilled blanks...I will let you know how that goes.

that's indeed a very simple option, but it will leave me with wind wings that have extra holes in them. not perfect, but also not the worst.

If Rick doesn't help you with his laser cutter, I may be able to.

I had a company called Tap Plastics make me new visors and wings. I sent them mine and the made me a matching set in dark smoke. It was $104 (shipped) for the set of four. I think $50 of that was the wings.

They came out nice and I am pretty sure they would drill you holes wherever you wanted. I can give you the info for the guy I dealt with, he was a cool dude.

Not the best pic but you can kinda see them here:

You should be able to get a set of the clamp on style. Perhaps put a notice in the Want To Buy part of the forum, before trying an accessory seller.

If you opt to use what you have, read this post first. https://www.ffcars.com/threads/heres-how-to-install-wind-wing-deflectors.253346/

Here’s the picture of what I have:

These are Finish line wind wings, so they are not clamp style like FFR ones. They used to go to the holes (red), but now the top hole is taken by soft top clamp mount. I want to use the green hole, for this I need to move the top clamp lower. Instead of having the wind wings with holes in them I’m thinking about getting new wind wings and drill the holes in them where I need it.
