Hi,

Is it possible to put a tukey pan on a FORD FE 427 with à holley sniper?? Good or bad idea? I saw on other post that some said to avoid the turkey pan for many reason but I really like the look with the chrome pent roof valve cover with 427 emblem. What is the best air cleaner to fit with it?

Thanks

ThanksI love FE's and I love turkey pans. Like sidepipes, a turkey pan on a big block screams "COBRA" to me.

Since the Sniper has a footprint of a 4bbl, it should fit.

HOWEVER:

Unless you custom build a turkey pan---which I did for my SPF FE sled for ease of tuning reasons---the cutouts for fuel lines, throttle linkage, and misc. hook-ups may not be compatible with EFI needs. You may find a vendor who will make a turkey pan without cutouts, so you can modify it for EFI yourself. It shouldn't be that hard.

Thanks you for your answer that's should'nt be a problem to get one build custom to fit my sniper. Do you have pics of yours?

The problem with a traditional turkey pan, IMO, is even though there are openings for some carb adjustment, you can't take it off without removing the entire carb.

So I had a local metal shop fashion one with two pieces from stainless steel: a base and a surround. The surround can be removed with eight small bolts, two on each long side and two on the short sides. The surround had capture nuts. Remove these screws and I could get to the entire carb. I used some interior trim on top.

This approach would work with your EFI needs.

That is a really great design. Does that shop make them or is that a one off.

He used the footprint of an actual turkey pan.

Not sure if it would be an issue, but could the pan exacerbate the RFI concerns for the Sniper? I'm thinking the metal pan could act like a reflector. Just a thought.
