I thought I’d share this with others. Union Pacific RR is suspending all west coast intermodal traffic into the massive Chicago intermodal yard. The Long Beach dwell time of containers is currently at five days with massive congestion. This move will further hinder the supply chain and distribution network. Simply put... it’s a mess out there.

If your on the fence thinking about waiting a little while getting some of your car parts and/or supplies...
may want to get things now if they are available. The supply chain is going to get worse before it gets better.

Congestion & gridlock in Chicago.
This move may help or it may just add to the congestion in the west coast ports.

Part of the problem in Chicago is the UP changing the way they run the yards there. Efficiency has dropped off and they cut corners where they can. It’s all for the CEO’s bonus check, and not customer service anymore.

Just got a tidbit of info...UP is trying to recall former employees they kicked to the curb to help out! Too little too late!
