Hi all,

I am waiting on my cool tubes and just wanted to run this by the more experienced builders out there. I modified my overflow tank and have it ready to mount at the highest spot I can get it that is also out of the way of other utilities. Please see below.

Here is a picture of the tank.

My question is this..
I have investigated various sources and know that to duplicate the mustang style coyote cooling I need to attach the large bottom nipple to the tee at the front of the block that also is a return spot for coolant from the heater.
One of the other nipples would be routed to the front of the block as well as indicated by the diagram. It goes to the nipple sticking out of the housing attached to the upper radiator hose on the block.

The last nipple from the overflow is supposed to go to the top of the radiator on radiators that have an overflow filler nipple. The radiator provided by factory five does not have this. I was thinking I could run a line to the radiator top petcock if I change it to have a different fitting or I could just not use this third nipple on the overflow tank and just cap it off. I have enough tubes and if there was one less it would make it neater. I am leaning towards not connecting the third nipple on the overflow/fill tank to the radiator.

Would this be ok? Thanks for any input?Problems with any of this that you see?

Remove the upper petcock and replace with a nipple, I believe its a 1/8 npt , you will need a one way check valve so the coolant from the radiator won't flow backwards to the coolant tank

Exactly as 65DaytonaCoupe said, except no check valve in the vent hose from the radiator. If you do decide to fit one, it needs to be able to vent toward the tank, so that it degasses the radiator.
I haven't yet had the time to upgrade to the shiny aluminium coolant tank and still have the plastic tank as supplied with the engine. With the engine idling I can see coolant flow from these vents into the tank. It flows quite well and kind of reminds me of the telltale on an outboard motor.

Cheers Nigel

Anywhere you would recommend sourcing the one way check valve from? Is there any part numbers.I will also search around. Thanks

Found this in Paul’s coupe thread. I will look for the stuff recommended unless there is other options people suggest. Heard it is an expensive little piece. Spotted some on Amazon in aluminum for under $20.t.poe

“The small hose that goes from the expansion tank to the top of the radiator has a check valve installed. Mine for the Gen 2 Coyote was Ford part number FR3Z-8075-C. Looks like the one on your diagram is different. I don't know any of the details about the hose, e.g. where the check valve us, what direction it's going, etc. I just bought it from Ford (Tasca Parts actually) and installed it. Replaced the petcock on the radiator with a right angle barb connector and shortened the hose to match. Cooling system is working properly, so assume it's doing whatever it does.”

The FR3Z-8075-C part is around $35 from a number of sources. Including from Tasca which is what I mentioned and used. I say "expensive" because when you get it you'll see there's probably only a couple dollars (if that...) in materials. But the check valve function is important for the expansion tank to work as designed. Not sure what you're seeing on Amazon. Get the Ford piece. It works.

Will try Tasca. Thanks mucho!
