As the title says, took the roadster on a 6 hour drive today. Took the cowboy trail South and the Highwood Pass back. Here’s a link to a description of the pass https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highwood_Pass.
The weather threatened so we stopped and put the top on. Then the weather delivered for awhile. Here’s some pictures. Sorry they got mixed around when I posted.

It was a great day.

Looks like an amazing day and a stunning drive. I will have to keep note of your route - thanks for the new idea!

A group of us from the Edmonton area are planning to do a 3 day trip South to drive the Highwood pass August 4th. Hope we get good weather. If everyone makes it we will have 5 or 6 cars.

Would really like to join the trip but, I am in Miami for a little over two weeks starting 1 Aug. Decided to take a 787 First Officer position for awhile. SIM training in is the reason for the Miami trip. Looking forward to the training but, a little disappointed to be losing two weeks of the already too short driving season.
It is a gorgeous drive but, the road is rough in spots. Lots of Texas gates and at one point in the rain storm we had to snake our way through a herd of cows on the highway. Lots of other wild life too see. Just watch out for the moron tourists that stop in the middle of the road to take pictures.

My son and I did that trip 2 weeks ago. We always stop in Turner Valley for lunch at the Chuckwagon Cafe. We had a good day. Very warm, no rain. Lots of wildlife. I do not recommend going there on a weekend. Because of Covid there is way too much traffic and all the parking lots will be over flowing. And yes the Texas gates are a bother.
