All,
At normal ride height, what is the distance from the ground to the bottom of the 4 tubes? Im trying to determine if my new to me dolly is going to be high enough, or if I should raise it. Current dolly is 10 from ground to 4 tube surface.
Thanks!

4" in front and 4.5" in rear for me. some others will increase/decrease +/- 0.25"
trying to figure out what your question is regarding the dolly. are you wondering if the dolly is high enough to get the tires on and still roll it around?

EG, Yes, that’s exactly what I’m concerned about. My shop is tight enough that chassis is going to need to be dollyed back & forth to make everything fit...I know the dolly is too low to work comfortably, but it also needs enough height to be able to move with the tires on...

Once your tires are on, you can just push it without the dolly

Agreed. For a lot of what you'll be doing early on, the wheels will just be in the way if they're on the car. Leave the wheels off and move it around on the dolly. Once wheels are on, take the car off the dolly and get a set of four wheel dollies like these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0778V84XQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to wheel it around.

Used these in my build - very handy

I found when I went to put the engine/ trans in it had to come off the dolley anyways to get the trans in so you have no other choice than to roll it around on its wheels. Was nice to leave it on the dolley as long as possible though. Of course different dolley construction and that may not be an issue.

I measured mine yesterday while on a lift. 10" to the bottom of the 4" frame tubes gives me adequate clearance (about 1-1/2 to 2" inches without the tires touching the floor.)

I like the high-mount dolly idea, currently I'm up on 4 floor jacks - not movable but at least I can get underneath it!
I may move onto 4 tire skates now that the majority of under-car stuff is done - that would at least give me 'some' mobility without the height
