Finally. After years of following this forum, I have finally placed an order for a Roadster. I feel like I’ve read hundreds of build threads over the years and honestly, it’s this community that gives me the confidence that I can maybe pull this off!
My build plans:
- Base ‘Canadian’ kit
- Coyote crate engine with TKX
- Hydraulic clutch
- IRS
- Willwood brakes
- Power steering (KRC)
- Halibrand replica wheels from FFR
- Gasn pipes
- Heater + heated seats (because Calgary!)
- Drop trunk mod
- Forward battery
…lots of choices still to be made, but given current supply chain issues, looks like I have time to sort them out!

Hi Darcy,
Im in Okotoks and just ordered my kit this weekend! I am working with FFR on shipping currently as my original plan to have Stewart drop it at the border might not be in the cards.
Im curious as to what you are doing for delivery? Shoot me a message and we can go from there!

Hi there,
I ordered mine in July…scheduled delivery in January. I was also planning to have Stewart deliver to Sweetgrass, but havent been in contact with them yet. Are you having issues with that plan?

Welcome to the family. I'm a first time builder too, I ordered my Roadster in Oct of 21 and received it July 22, been on the build journey ever since. There are hoops for importing to Canada but if you've ordered the kit you are probably up on the regulations and what's required to get it safetied. Stewart wasn't delivering into Canada when mine was ready to ship, they delivered mine to the closest town to the border, I rented a flat deck and met them there - it took a little coordinating but they have done this before their unloading setup makes it really easy. FF gives you all the paperwork you need before it ships so you can get your import paperwork done before, Cdn. Govt takes about 2 weeks. Stewart needed two weeks to arrange the pickup and 1 week for it to arrive, delivering to a small town close to the border my have had something to do with that. It's been mentioned before (frequently) it's really important to count and checkoff everything you receive "expect back orders" ..... I've heard and dealt with long lead times on engines and brakes don't know what its like now but finding out is a good idea. Best of luck on the build, it's a lot of fun.

Just to satisfy curiosity, is it possible to buy a completed Roadster in the US and own it in Canada? We cant even sell ours interstate in Australia without a full engineering inspection.
Cheers,
Nigel

Hi Nigel, From my understanding of the rules, a completed roadster cannot be importer from the US to Canada it does not meet the minimum standard for importation. This being said the only choice is to import the kit as "Car Parts" and assemble it yourself, the completed assembly still has to pass vehicle roadworthy inspection oddly the rules are different if you "assemble" the parts in Canada. There are other hoops to jump through for us but hopefully answers your question.
