Hey guys,
I had planned to use the FFR Halibrands on my Coupe pretty much since day one. About half way through the build I felt that some Chrome FR500 would be better. I bought them and all new tires and put them on the Coupe a few months ago. I immediately felt that I made a mistake.
So today, I finally finished up the Halibrands and had a chance to get them back on the Coupe. Let me know what you think. Chrome FR500 or White Halibrands

I like the 500's, they offset/complement the white sidepipes and stripes. A nice tasteful amount of flash/bling to go with the total package

Looks like the Halibrand's are coming out up front. This was my opinion as well.
Next Question....How many Coupe builders put a spare in the rear? This is something that I think I will be doing. I think it is pretty cool, but my 16 year old son thinks I should not.

It looks great with the Halibrands, but have you considered magnesium gold centers. New magnesium is gold in color and from old photos looks great. It would look awesome with your color combo.h

I vote for the white Halibrands.
As for the spare tire. I plan on using one for shows. I am making a "rack" like the original that can be bolted in. This will allow me to remove it when I don't want the spare.
I did a CAD drawing and made a jig to build the "rack". I then welded in some attaching tabs for the bolts. The tabs will have a nut welded to them. I plan to have some straps manufactured to complete the package.
I have an article about it along with the CAD drawing of the carrier on my build site.

Ron,
Thanks for the photo's on your build site. This will certainly lead me in the right direction. I like the idea of making the entire assembly easy to get in and out along with being safe.

I think I will end up using these for my track wheels or down the road for my next roadster build.

I'm thinking about doing just that on my coupe. I originally bought some bullit style wheels because I couldn't make up my mind and they were ok looking and inexpensive. The plan being that when I finally make up my mind I'll use the new ones for daily use and keep the bullits for track tires.

I think they both look great, but give two totally different looks. The chrome 500's tilt the car towards more modern and flashy, which goes great with your paint. The Halibrands are more vintage looking, and always look great on this car. Tough call, but it might help to know which direction the rest of the build is going to go - vintage, or modern? Chrome wheels are going to be a lot easier to live with from a brake dust standpoint as well. Personally, I've got vintage wheels for the street and modern wheels for track tires too.

Ryan,
If you put a spare tire/wheel in the hatch area you will have a hard time fitting in a set of golf clubs! LOL!

Ryan,
You couldn't do that on your X-box? LOL
White Halibrands of course. I do like the spare tire idea, it just looks cool.
We need to find 2 more people that want it too. Then we'll by a set of wheels and ship to the individuals!

Unfortunately for me, the game I used to do your Coupe did not exist when I decided that I had to have chrome wheels. I am sticking with the Halibrands for sure and will start work on a bracket for the spare in the next couple of weeks. I contacted FFR and they sell each wheel for $275 plus $25 freight. This is exactly 1/4 the price of the full set.

Just make sure the spare will fit front and rear if you actually plan on using it.

The white Halibrands. In my opinion the coupe just doesn't look right with a modern current style wheel like the fr's. I have a spare in my "trunk", it a 335 on a PE pin drive and I made sure it fits on the front as well.

While I personally love the FR500s on this car with that paint scheme the vintage Halibrands are the Bomb!! So either way you go it will look great!!
