View Full Version : Height of racing seats
Just trying to see if anyone has ever compared the height that you sit with a low back racing seat compared to the standard FFR seats. This is based on them being mounted exactly the same.
I'm not that tall, and I do have the windshield angled back a bit more than normal, but I'm looking through the top frame of the windshield with my head above it, and it's something that I'm not happy with.

How tall are you? Are you using and breeze seat mounts? What's your windshield angle? I'm 5'7", have the classic low back seats with breeze mounts, and my windshield is the recommended rake and I have plenty of room below the top of my frame

Racing seat are made with a 0.125in aluminium shell with ~1in foam padding. If you mount them on the floor, you’re essentially sitting on the floor. You may want to raise the front of the seat by 0.5in.
Remove your seat and sit on the floor to test.

Unless you absolutely need a moveable seat just bolt it to the floor. Put some 2x4s on the floor behind the seat to fix it's front to rear position. Sit the seat on the floor in front of your spacers. Shim the front up w/ some pieces of plywood until you like the angle. Adjust your rear spacers and front shims until you are happy.
