I wanted to introduce myself. I am very early in the process - looking at options/plans/budget, but very interested in a '35 truck build. For a long time I have thought someday I would do a restomod truck, but then started looking at the FFR kits. I am looking to build something that could be a summer daily driver in Vermont, so has to be capable of being driven in the rain. Living here already limits driving season to May - Oct to avoid salt, so if I avoided rain also I wouldn't be able to drive much. My current thought is:

Full fendered 35 truck
Blueprint 347 with TKX
Manual wilwood brakes
Manual steering
Heat/defrost but no A/C

I will almost certainly look for someone to do final bodywork and paint - I have zero experience/knowledge there. I'm planning to visit factory five and maybe do the build school, but I think I could do the rest.

I've taken step 1, which is to list my current toy for sale. I've owned two modified Mitsubishi Evos over the last 12 years, so this is definitely a departure from what I have been doing. I have been reading build threads and I'm looking forward to learning a lot.

There is great info on this site, so thank you to all who post build threads and answer questions.

Jim

Welcome fellow newbie. I’m in a similar situation having recently sold my long term project and looking to get into an FFR project to broaden my horizons and experience. I also have the budget started and have decided on my life long dream of the 1964 Roadster. I learned a lot building my previous project from scratch but I also will need help with the body work. Good luck with your ‘35 truck build! I look forward to seeing it come to life and hope to learn from your experience as well.

Thank you - and good luck to you as well! I definitely have a lot to learn, but I am looking forward to it. I am also looking forward to visiting FFR at the end of August to see the showroom and take the factory tour on the way to a weekend on the cape.

As an update, it was great to see the truck in person. Solidified that as the direction I want to go. I have revised my drivetrain plan to use the Coyote instead of the 347. I sold the Evo, so now working on detailed plan to come up with the remaining funds to be ready to order. I'll have to be patient - likely to be end of 2022/early 2023 before I'm at that point.
