This is my first time building a Factory Five car or any kind of car for that matter. I'm jumping around a little due to shortages, anyway, I have installed the passenger footbox and the next step is to install the floor. The instruction say to silicone to the transmission tunnel only. Is there a reason to not rivet to the transmission tunnel? I looked farther into the manual and cannot find where the floors are finally attached to the transmission tunnel. Something to do with the E-brake or the cover? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a novice.

Not Factory Five tech -- but here's the answer. The transmission tunnel cover wraps over the side and captures the top of the floor pieces at the top corner of the transmission tunnel. If you put rivets in now, they will interfere. The instructions (somewhere...) say to install and rivet the transmission tunnel cover. The rivets would go through the cover and the floor pieces.
Not to complicate the issue, but some make the cover removable. Whole other topic. But again you wouldn't want rivets interfering with the cover.
