Hey,

Looking to mount my Holley Fuel Pump on the bar above my 4" tube. Only issue for me is it looks like the angle of this tube is a bit slanted and not perpendicular with the ground. It's not too much but is this angle okay to mount the fuel pump here?

Also how do most people mount it? Is drilling holes and riveting the best or using screws and drilling those in?

Lastly, for my fuel filter, the location they suggest it to be mounted in is a bit tight for a rivet. There is a crossbar that makes it pretty much impossible for me to rivet. Any other good places to mount it? Or any ideas on how else to fasten it?

Thanks for the help.150068

Yes, that's where I put mine per Blue Prints' recommendation. The slant on that tube is no issue. I fabricated a plate to match the mounting bracket on the pump. Riveted the plate to the tube with three 3/16" rivets. I then threaded the front hole into the tube and through bolted the rear bracket hole so the pump is mounted with 2 bolts. For the filters, I put the pre filter up high and the post filter under the passenger floor along the 4" tube about 6 inches in front of the front rear lower control arm. The filter mounting bracket is riveted into the passenger floor with 3/16" rivets. I think that bracket has 5 so it's very solid.

I use the Holley HP125 mounted in nearly the same position as you show, just a bit higher (the bottom of the pump is even with the top of the 4" tube). I riveted an aluminum plate to the square tube as ILBPFoot above and have had no issues with it (read: no vapor lock) even in the hot AZ summer! Keep in mind that the suction of the pump must be below the minimum gasoline level in the tank.

Update - As frankb did I too have the Holley HP125 pump. I started with the Holley Red that BP supplied with the motor. It worked fine but was LOUD! Not a big deal with the motor running but after about 2,000 miles it got louder and I could hear it with the engine at idle. Went to the HP125. You can hardly hear it when turning on the key before engine start. It's a bit pricey but a much better pump. I kept my Red as a back up....just in case.

Keep in mind that you'll end up replacing the pump at some point. Usually in a hotel parking lot at night. Make it easy to get to, and easy to remove. Same with the filter.
